BG Group instructed it's FM provider, Wilson James, to find a new security integrator who could support their electronic security requirements and was able to perform in a highly demanding health and safety environment.

After submitting comprehensive process and bid documentation, followed up by site visits to existing customers, WOT Security were chosen as BG Group's new electronic security integrator.

One of the first objectives was to upgrade the existing Honeywell access control and CCTV digital recording, to allow site-specific floor plan graphics and intruder alarm control. This allows the security staff to manage the site effectively and make better use of the technology to deliver a safe and secure working environment.

Discovery Networks Europe is a division of the largest originator of factual programming in the world, Discovery Communications Inc. They have grown from one channel in the UK twelve years ago to become a major force in the European media industry today, now having offices in the Netherlands, Poland and Denmark, serving the Benelux, Eastern Europe and Nordic regions.

The new European Headquarters in London is one of Europe's most extensive media transmission centres, distributing 48 televsion broadcast feeds to 104 countries in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, including the flagship Discovery Channel.

Moving into state-of-the-art premises Discovery Networks Europe were keen to implement a security solution to match. Whilst needing to protect its high-tech multi-media and digital equipment, it also required a system that was simple to manage and would allow for seamless integration across its European operation.

WOT Security Group was appointed because of strong security system integration skills and investment in qualified IT graduates.

Having carried out a detailed assessment of Discovery Networks requirements WOT Security concluded the best solution was Honeywell Win-Pak™ Pro access control and Pelco CCTV, with digital recording. This is networked to enable useres to monitor events and alarms from central or remote locations throughout Europe.

Steve Kendal, Discovery's Security Manager says, "From a management perspective we are easily able to identify and control who enters and exits the facility and respond proactively to alarms and events. We are particularly pleased the system allows employees traveling between company sites to access sites other the one at which they were based".
